In my late thirties, $165k a year, not happy, any advice?
I'm making way more than I ever imagined, and honestly I have no idea how I could find another job that pays anywhere close to this. Somehow I found myself in this role in the mortgage and lending world, and I hate almost everything about it.
I feel like I don't belong and that I barely understand anything almost every day. Constant pressure. I keep telling myself I'll get a handle on it, but now that I've passed the eight-month mark, it feels like things have gotten even more confusing and heavier. This is completely the opposite of my natural way of working.
The worst part is that I hate how much I like the salary. I've gotten used to the money, and I know that's the thing keeping me attached and unable to leave.
I find myself daydreaming about walking away and leaving all of this behind, and then I remember that there are lots of people who are burned out like me and making half what I make, so I convince myself to stay a little longer.
Is this normal and I just have to put up with it, or is there something obvious I'm missing?
