Nothing Builds On Anything

Game had a fantastic base foundation

And all of the post launch content, free or otherwise has failed to expand on it in a meaningful way.

I can legitimately say, that the Halloween and Cartel free events in borderlands 3 did more to build on the base game, than every single post launch content drop combined in Borderlands 4.

The Halloween & Cartel events added Enemy types, anointments and special effects that actually altered any area you were in. Increasing enemy density. Elongating fights. Adding something to collect, bringing meaning fighting baddies in any area. Having to collect a currency in the world, in order to regain access to the event area actually brought meaning and continuity.

In Borderlands 4, everything is so isolated and sectioned off despite being an open world. I can legitimately say if a post launch content drop lacks a weapon you are interested in, you can outright ignore it. Heck, you can outright ignore the content after you get whatever piece of gear you were after.

No changes or evolutions to base mechanics. We haven't got a new glide upgrade/sidegrade. No new skill trees or skills. No new gear types or slots. No new currencies or special shops.

Heck, We didn't even get meaningful changes to vehicles!

I legitimately think the only base game altering addition is the Stone Demon Bounty Pack adding Ordonite Processors.

Why didn't the Nightmare Rifts get added to base map so you can at least remember you bought that DLC after you finished it?

Zane's bounty pack has new digital enemies. Why didn't they get added to the world mob pool?

I can't even classify the bounty packs as filler. Nothing is being filled in. They don't even add class mods.
