Is this the actual pronunciation?

My (F26) friend (F28) is having a baby. It's a girl but she can't decide between the names Caoimhe and Aoife so she's having a sort of portmanteau between the two names and is calling her Caoife.

It looks nice written down but she's adamant that it's pronounced "kweefa." Is this the actual pronunciation of Caoife? I don't want to offend anyone but it sounds a bit like something that's rude if you drop the A at the end and I don't want her being picked on when she goes to school.

How is Caoife *actually* pronounced?
