A message from the universe

My friend flipped a switch on our friendship over a year ago. My dumbass continued to believe I could fix it and kept trying even though it hurt.

Every response to my reach out messages was a different version of they dgaf: no response at all, terse and overly polite response after weeks, they moved without telling me, no reach out for my critical life events, not on my sibling’s death, not on my birthday, and not after my cancer diagnosis. Yet I still continued to believe I could fix it.

Since April, daily posts from a horoscope-type site said things like ‘you will get a message today from someone you think about’ or ‘you will know the message when you see it’ or ‘this message will change everything’.

I finally saw the message in a random post. All caps. Plain as day. No doubt it was meant for me.

The message said YOU CANNOT FIX A RELATIONSHIP THAT YOU REFUSE TO ADMIT IS DEAD.
