Frustrated and need support
I have had a handful of concerning symptoms, which I’ll explain more below. I finally got a referral to a Rheumatologist and today was the day I might start to get answers! But I was sent away because their computer system went down and the doctor didn’t feel comfortable seeing me without access to my digital records.
I don’t know if I want to cry or scream. Not only am I so upset about how much longer I’m gonna have to wait, but I also am so angry that this doctor didn’t even have enough compassion to speak with me face to face.
My life has been on hold lately trying to manage my elbow pain and the constant worry about what this might be. Now I just get to sit and wait more, and we know how long it takes to get an appointment. My pain is increasing and I’m so so scared that I could be doing permanent damage to my joints.
Background: had an outbreak of guttate psoriasis about 12 years ago. It cleared off after about six months and never came back. I’ve had often on joint pain in what I thought were just athlete injuries since. This spring, I started having extremely dry mouth and trouble swallowing, and was diagnosed with an esophageal ulcer and gastritis in my stomach. Around that same time, my hands started aching, especially at night. About three months ago, both of my elbows began to ache and get hot to the touch. And man, I’m so exhausted. Also have a toenail fungus. So maybe PsA? My great grandma had RA. My PCP did blood tests and I was RF negative. Nothing stood out in the tests.
My joint pain is worsening, even with rest. Now, whenever I make a light fist the ligament right under my elbows flares up. I can’t take any nsaids for inflammation because of the ulcer. I’m currently taking fish oil, turmeric and vitamin D. Any recommendations while I wait? Should I ask my pcp for steroids?
