Unsure about gap year+resit

Hi there, so I applied to both Bristol and Southampton for mechanical engineering and got an offer from both for the same grades requirement. I firmed Bristol because I was sure I wanted to go there and move away from home to be able to be more independent and considering how great I've heard Bristol is, not to mention a few of my childhood friends are going there too. But I ended up missing my offers by one grade, getting ABB instead of AAB ( I have a contextual) , and now I'm a bit unsure if I should I just suck it up and go to southampton and staying at home or taking a gap year where I'll probably work full time and redo the two subjects I got B's in. I was wondering what everyone's advice would be on this? and also if its a risk to take the gap year Incase I'm not able to get an equally good offer as Southampton next year? thank you so much
