My fiancé wants to break up
I 28M a Mexican/ American and my 27F fiancé who is Moroccan citizen My fiancé believes I am not a man nor capable of taking care of two people in this relationship. Ever since I told her Spain was not a good plan anymore as a digital nomad since there will be complications that would put us in a complicated situation financially and potentially lose the visa if I switch from being 1099 to a w2 employee. So I said I don’t feel comfortable with that route since I don’t see stability nor a guarantee of a safe place we would be financially unstable due to the amount of taxes they charge. In the lifestyle that we live will not work out there again I will be the one responsible with the financial burden and not her.
Fast-forward once I brought that news to her, she hates me, yelled at me and say that that I have ruined her plans to Spain she said that ever since A proposed to her, I stopped her from acquiring a student visa to Spain. Mind you I was all for encouraging that route before I propose to her and even after we were granted a visa for her for 10 days to visit Spain so I took her to visit universities discuss with them and they needed a lot of money and so forth I suggested as a boyfriend at the time You might need a loan for this and she refuse that idea and I told her I’m not taking care of it because that’s a lot of money. I can help in certain areas, but I cannot take care of a whole house and pay for your school at the same time.
Fast forward a few months later I propose to her we were good. Everything was fine. I said you know what I’m gonna apply for the digital nomad visa give it a shot three months after the engagement, which is today I spoke to lawyers and tax attorneys, and once I was presented information to me Spain was not looking too pretty. So I have arranged attorneys here in the USA. We spoke to them and they’re giving us a timeline of 8 to 14 months until she gets a green card and within the five months of that timeline, she will have a workers permit.
My fiancé is refusing the idea of waiting that timeline sitting at home while I work and provide for her. I even told her I would give you like an allowance help her with any type of classes that she wants to learn here in the states for the time being until she gets her workers permit anything for her to be comfortable. She even stated that she rather wait in Morocco for the green card, but due to the Trump administration they’re not allowed green card processing at the moment so there are difficulties with that. I told her if you wanna be in Morocco that’s fine. I will still take care of the house. Take care of everything. Keep in mind that I did live with her in Morocco for a bit.
The thing is that she hates her job so much where it causes her stress she doesn’t sleep. She just cries when she gets home from work And she’s miserable in that country because there’s so many issues going on. She’s alone it doesn’t have many people to turn to because of her work situation. I told her look quit. I’ll take care of you until you find a new job. I’ll take care of the whole house we can move to a different city. You know I’m taking the full responsibility of you. I’ll even give you half of your monthly salary which is like $600 a month and pay for the whole housing and bills. While we wait for the green card and also for her to find a new job.
She’s this refusing to come to America because that timeline is way too long. She cannot give up her career for eight months even though I offered her a stable home here in the states. I make more than 100 K a year. I told her that the US is a better route because they stability I know I can take care of you very well here and you will have a great career. Yes, the timeline is a little longer than expected, but it’s government and politics. Nothing we can control But sacrificing those few months will benefit you to have some self reflection. I told her Maybe take some time to yourself learn some new things try something else until you start getting your work permit and then you can start picking up your career. You’ll have more choices here in America and after a few years, you will become a citizen and you will no longer have issues of traveling all over abroad like you do with your Moroccan passport And again she is refusing that idea because she thinks that I do not care about what she wants because Spain processes things in a month so she was banking on that when I told her it’s a maybe, but Plan B is United States but because of that she is refusing and being super difficult with me.
though I have offered choices for her relax or choose to learn. Provide a stable home and a better future, especially being away from Morocco, but she simply believes that her career cannot be on pause, even though she hates her job and blames me for her Spain student visa, even though we both chose to continue our lives as partners but now I believe she’s being a bit selfish Saying that I’m not providing good enough solutions for her to speed up a process or get her out of Morocco because Spain was a disappointment. It was a dream of mine as well, but due to certain circumstances, I want stability a better future I don’t wanna live in a bad situation so am I overreacting Telling her just give up eight months during that period? I’m taking care of you and in the long run, we will have better opportunities. Though she’s insisting that I’m selfish because I’m not giving up anything in this process.
TL;DR: basically my fiancé refuses to come as a tourist and visit America and have an opinion of coming here first even though she has her visa and then I suggested that we get married as a fiancé visa and start our lives in the US since Spain was ruled out that’s not a good choicesince I do not see stability for us there overall fiancé beliefs. I am selfish because I’m not giving up anything.
