Scoliosis Injury
Hi! I have been diagnosed with scoliosis for the last two years I’m 21 years old. I have never gotten my scoliosis x rayed. So I’m not sure to what degree it is yet. My general doctors told me it was mild and not that concerning. Over the last few months I’ve noticed a lot more pain and it sometimes disrupts daily life.
Recently on Sunday I went on two roller coasters at Knott’s Berry farm. After about an hour after I got off the first coaster I felt pain all over my back especially where the spine curves the most. I was in line for a wooden coaster and decided to ride it. At first after I got off the ride the pain went away. Then within a few minutes came back even stronger where walking became difficult and I had to go home. The next two days were intensely painful. I went to work and struggled walking, picking up things, and sitting in chairs. On Wednesday morning I went into work and I only had slight back pain so I thought I was doing better. Half way through my shift I went to pick up some trash off the floor. All of a sudden I felt a rush of tingles in my legs. Within a few minutes from my knee down my legs were tingling, warm, heavy, loss of sensation, and muscle spasms. I could no longer feel portions of my back either. I requested a break and sat for a few minutes. When I tried to stand back up I realized I could barely walk. I was excused from work and headed to the er.
At the er my spams intensified and I could not walk. They brought me a wheelchair. Sitting was not much easier. My leg spasms would come in waves and began to affect my entire leg. My entire body was beginning to shake and I could not sit still. After numerous tests bloodwork, mri, ct scan, iv, and steroids. The doctors reported they didn’t find much other than sciatica and partial lumbaziation. I was sent home with some ibruprofen and meds to reduce spasming.
Have any of you had an experience like this? Is there something underlying doctors may have missed? Any suggestions for next steps from here as I love roller coasters but I’m now so scared of anything bad happening again. I’m taking the next four days off of work to recover and hopefully things will go back to normal.
