Startup trying to retain me after my resignation by offering increase in pay and some holidays
Disclaimer : the post is going to be a bit long, but i need some real genuine advice
To begin with i joined this startup on dec 2025, originally i was supposed to be a full time employee as per the jd, but founder pitched the typical budget issue, and me fearing unemployment accepted the imternship after verbally discussing the duration of the internship to be 3/4 months( dumb me didnt get it written in my offer letter)
fast forward to 3/4 months later i was supposed to get the full time, but i had some personal issues and didnt have the time to ask a follow-up about it, so i asked about my full time conversion on 6th month, on which i was told he still has some decisions to make and need some time to think about this
fast forward to the 7th month of my internship, after frequent follow up on my full time conversion finally he gave up the real reason stating he will convert me full time only when he gets his first project on brand new service which is solely handled by me, atp i knew very well i am getting exploited i get peanuts as my stipend
fast forward to 9th month currently (August), i finally made the decision to resign, i originally didnt have any np mentioned in my offer letter, me being the generous one was going to offer him a week's worth of np, but founder didnt even let me talk about my lwd when i brought up the resignation topic, and says ,"i know you will take responsibility and wont leave until we hire your replacement and rethink your decision about resignation, what i can do is offer you a little more money and holidays(i have 6 day work week) " currently i receive about 25% of my promised full time pay, and i also do mtech along with my internship which my boss is aware of, and tells me he cant offer me full time rn bcoz he thinks its fking ILLEGAL, like dude ur exploitation is what needs legal action from me
so after careful consideration and need of money what i thought of is to offer my boss 2 months of my time with 100% of my full-time pay while i will continue to work as intern( i dont want a low salary tag while switching), so that within 2 months he can hire my replacement
so what i want to ask you guys is, is this the right move? or do you suggest something else? btw the work is around ai automation, crm, odoo, yeah i do all this shit and other things while getting paid peanuts, thats on me i know
