WWYD?- wrong package delivered and opened package.

Need your input and have one reason for opened FedEx packages being delivered.

I’ve had the same FedEx guy for past year.
He had me sign for a delivery today and hands it to me while I’m handling my barking dog.

Since it’s like Christmas, I open it immediately and then realize it’s not my gold. It’s 3 -10oz silver PAMP bars!
Yes I should have looked at the name on the package.
Yes I did realize the package weighed more than expected for gold.

I was able to run down the FedEx guy and sign and receive my package. I told him I wanted to tape up the wrong box and took it back to my house to taped it up and return it to him.

Now he’s delivering an opened package to the next guy! That was hastily taped outside. But inner package is opened.

So here are the questions-
Isn’t the FedEx guy supposed to scan the package prior to me signing it?
Normally I look at the name but my big barking dog in one hand (and Glock in the other) distracted me.

Do the FedEx guys know it’s precious metals in these packages we sign for?

Would insurance cover the wrong package delivered?

Won’t the next guy wonder why his package was opened?

Why didn’t the FedEx guy care? I offered to fill out a form or whatever to help him out.

Would you have kept some of the silver?
I live by the Golden rule (I only keep gold!)

So what would you do?
