Honesty and ability to judge
George Russell loves Carmen; he likes her a lot and does everything he can to ensure she has a great reputation and is well-regarded. If he didn't care so much about her, she wouldn't appear in newspapers, magazines, on Mercedes, or on his fan profiles. I think he truly has immense love and consideration for her, and that he probably gave up on the championship, and the desperation of love won out. As for Carmen, I'm sorry, it's not misogyny, but I can't see love from her. While George is doing DNF, she's just promoting Barry, and I don't see her with all that energy. Carmen seems to be there for the status, George paying for her recognition; they're both insecure and probably always watching over her. Neither of them are amazing people, and George feeds Carmen's ego by being a businesswoman, and she's very happy about it. It's a shame for George to be in this situation, but it's clear he's lost his mind and is acting on emotion.
