Retirement Jan. 19 - what to do with Vacation

I am currently on sick leave but returning to work in early September. I will be retiring under the ERI initiative on January 19. At that time I will have approximately four weeks of vacation left. Should I plan on taking my vacation days before January 19 or is it OK to get what is left paid out. I will be keeping 7 to 10 days to cover the payback that we need to do.
