Construction Wireman before apprenticeship?

So I’m a 19F and I’ve been looking to get into the field since junior year of high school. I love the work and after taking a gap year I know that this is the career I see for myself. My local (Local 24) accepts applications all year round but start classes in August so I’m looking to apply in January 2027. Due to me having no experience I was looking into becoming a Construction Wireman to gain as much experience and knowledge as I study for my aptitude test. Anybody from Local 24 CW program that can tell me their experience?
