Should I reapply for Airtel Axis after 6 months? 760+ CIBIL, but only 6 months credit history — looking for the best card

Help Needed/ Question

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for suggestions on which credit card would be the best fit for my profile, and more importantly, whether it makes sense to reapply for the Airtel Axis Credit Card.

My profile:

  • CIBIL: 760+
  • Credit history: ~6 months
  • Age: 25
  • Monthly credit card spending: ~₹15,000
  • No Axis Bank savings account
  • Previous Airtel Axis application: Rejected ~6 months ago due to insufficient/no credit history
  • No Lounge access required

My typical spending:

  • Offline: Groceries, hotels, apparel
  • Online: Swiggy, Zomato, Blinkit, Zepto, BookMyShow, RedBus
  • Airtel postpaid: ~₹1,200/month

I did some research and, based on my spending pattern, Airtel Axis still seems like a reasonable fit, even after the recent devaluation. My main attraction is obviously the Airtel bill cashback.

However, I'm unsure about the approval chances.

Since my previous application was rejected when I had virtually no credit history, would reapplying now after 6 months of credit history and a 760+ score make sense?

A few questions:

  1. Would Axis likely consider my current credit history sufficient for Airtel Axis?
  2. Does not having an Axis Bank savings account significantly reduce my chances?
  3. Is there anything I can do before applying to improve my approval chances?
  4. Should I apply for Airtel Axis directly, or get another card from Axis first and build a relationship with them?
  5. Given my spending pattern and only ~₹15k/month expenditure, are there better cards I should consider instead?
  6. If Airtel Axis is no longer recommended after the devaluation, what would you suggest as the best alternative?

I'm primarily looking for a RuPay cashback card rather than rewards or travel benefits.

Would appreciate recommendations from people who have a similar profile, especially anyone who got Airtel Axis after having an earlier application rejected.

Thanks!
