I Fear I’ve Messed Up. 14 Month Old Still Waking 2-4 Times

1-2 years old

Can I redeem this situation? I am worried that I messed up and now I’m never going to get her to sleep through the night. I’m only really asking for just 1 wake up, I don’t even need the full night lol..

14 Month old. 1 nap a day (since about 11 months) around 12/12:30pm, I’m lucky if I get just over 2 hours for a nap. Nighttime sleep averages 10.5hrs.

When we first transitioned her to 1 nap around 11 months old things were going great! She was dwindling down to 1-2 wakeups. Things were predictable. Naps were 2:05-2:30min long. I was removing the boob/sleep association. Somewhere along the way I’ve found myself completely back to square 1. I blame teething and the fact that she’s still in our room (in a crib). I can’t even try to soothe her in other ways because she goes from 0-100 bloody murder screaming. And. it. doesn’t. end. She won’t stop. It is so bad. She doesn’t whine or cry, she straight up screams HARD right off the bat.

How do you wean these night “feeds”/comfort suckles? I need a plan to follow because in the middle of the night I lose my shit when my husband asks how he can help. I don’t know how he can help. I do pretty much all the sleep stuff myself (except for him turning the pages to our bedtime books and taking her around the room to say goodnight to everything..then she’s back on me).

How did you transition your baby to their own room? I’ve done two naps in her own room in her mini crib. Do I just move the big crib in there and never look back?

I feel so stuck and like the answers are just beyond my reach. I feel extreme guilt for thinking about cutting her off at night (will I miss these late night cuddles? she’s getting so big, these days won’t last forever, should I just suck it up and enjoy it before its gone?) but I also am starting to feel resentment and just overall really defeated. The information out there is too overwhelming and frankly I don’t have time to read every article and baby sleep book. I need help. I’ve contemplated contacting a sleep consultant so many times but who has a spare ~$500 to drop on that?? Do I suck that up too and just fork it over for some peace and a ”professional”?? What if I don’t pick the right one and I’m out money AND still don’t get sleep? 😵‍💫 🫠

Before I had her, I’d read these horror stories of babies not sleeping at the age she is now and I always thought ”that‘ll never be us”.. Well, jokes on me.. *sigh*
