Booting linux on a windows pro loaded machine

I have booted linux into normal windows laptops just had one silly doubt - is booting linux on a windows pro machine the same as well - ( I have this doubt as it advertises itself with superior encryption and safety and I still fear messing around in the bios. Also it's a refurbished machine as well by lenovo. Any info would relieve my stress thanks.
