Three 6 Mafia influenced by?
So in the early early 90s , a group we all know as Bone Thugs & Harmony started poppin off. They themselves said they were influenced by the west coast sound, which you can tell is true (Eazy E, Dresta, BG Knoccout, etc). Shortly after in the mid 90s, a group called Three 6 mafia comes around with a kind of a similar sound. Why does no one ever point out that Three 6 definitely has a west coast influence? Dont get me wrong, Three 6 and Bone Thugs are both legendary groups and have their own individual characteristics, but why does everyone think that Three 6 were like completely original? No one from the south was rapping like that until then, but the GFunk-ish beats and super dark lyrics are obviously nothing new in California (or even the east coast) . Bone Thugs gave alot of credit to the west coast and said they felt “adopted” by california. But i feel like its dishonest to say Three 6 really invented anything new. I think at somepoint Bone Thugs were upset with Three 6 for that very reason. Which is why they were dissing eachother. Thoughts? (Im aware people from the south might not be happy with this one)
