Journeman (or woman) careers suck even with lenient contract settings on

I'm currently at my 3rd club of a little journeyman career mode and I've noticed that even if you set your contract settings to the lenient setting (i.e. players will want to renew pretty much regardless) that if you move clubs that setting appears to reset? Not one player will ask to renew their contract no matter how well the club is doing, which is really fucking stupid
