Hi all,

While I have a generous size studio, and I know there is a solution to my space needs, but I’m struggling to find it! I live with my boyfriend and we need to make space for his large record collection and decks. I’d also like to make space for a desk and we need additional storage.

Here is my floor plan— I’m struggling because I’ve found some really great furniture that has built in desks and shelves that would hold his records, but he needs his turntables by his record collection. Right now his turntables are on the dresser by the bed but we can’t store the records in that corner how it’s configured now. He has two turntables and a mixer so the surface needs to be at least 44 inches wide.

My thinking is that the couch should be moved to the wall with the TV now, the short wall. Then on the long wall with the bed I could find some kind of furniture that would have upper storage and shelves for records and the other odds and ends we need to store, a long space for his decks that has enough space above it so he can open the lids to his turntables, a desk, and also space for a TV. It’s a small TV just 32” on the diagonal. Right now I have about 113inch to work with from the night stand to the window. It’s a tall order to fit all of that there. I’ve seen some furniture on West Elm that could work but also dont want to spend millions of dollars so looking mostly on Facebook marketplace. But also wondering if I can do this in another way without such a specific furniture ask.

The TV is currently on an architectural desk that’s a family heirloom, but not really conducive to modern computer work :) I want to keep that out and could move it into my foyer, but I’m happy to put the other square table on wheels into storage. I don’t get natural direct light so need to keep the plants in the corner, but happy to move them to another structure too.

Anyways! Please share your ideas! I need help! Maybe there is a way to do this that I just can’t see. Open to any ideas.

Thank you!!
