Teaching an After School program and seeing red flags

Teacher Support &/or Advice

So recently I got hired to teach an after school music class in my general area. When I was first hired, I taught the summer program for 4 weeks. I am continuing for the school year and start in less than a week. I work a second job and so have been asking about my schedule and they have not been able to provide one. I was told that they (the afterschool music program) still have not signed their contract with the school so I do not know what school or district I am in, nor what class or age range I will be teaching. Is this considered the norm for an afterschool program? This is the first afterschool program I have worked with. The district they are considering is about an 45 minute commute from me and not being able to prepare for my class as I don’t even know what class I am assigned is getting stressful.

Is it normal to not have a schedule, class assignment, school location or time frame less than a week out from school starting? I’m starting to feel crazy for asking for the bare minimum. Any advice would be helpful!
