Hi, I just wanted to share this and get your guys opinion. I am a new ThinkPad user but in a slightly different way.

I always wanted to have a tablet but also a laptop for coding and ai in one device. But a Microsoft Surface Pro was to expensive for me so I built it on my own.

This is my ThinkPad tablet that I built over the course of the last weeks after I finished school. It is just a prototype and I have lots of plans what I am gonna do next with it.

The Mainboard features a Snapdragon x elite with 64gb of ram from a ThinkPad t14s gen 6 which I got for 210€ (probably one of the best deals I ever made). I also have the battery and Touch Screen from this exact ThinkPad.

For the housing I used a 1mm Anodized E6/EV1 Aluminium sheet with a matt finish. I cut, bend, drilled the holes for the housing and glued it with 2K epoxy resin.

I also cut two holes In the bezel and replaced it with a acrylic plastic sheet for the wifi antennas.

For the cooling I wanted a passive cooling which was one of the reasons I got an arm CPU. I connected the chipset with a 1 mm heat pipe to the backplate which I used as a heat spreader. It works surprisingly well and the chip only throttles slightly if it uses more than 20w of power over multiple minutes.

At the end I wanted to put a thin Pet sheet over the display but had trouble with air bubbles. This is why the bezel doesn't look very good - yet.

In total it cost me about \\\~500€

It works very well but I am definitely not finished. I thought to cnc my own housing out of a aluminum block to make it more professional but at the moment it is to expensive for me. Than I am also planning to design my own sub board to be able to connect the speakers of this ThinkPad. Finally I also want to re design the power button and use a thin 9H glass sheet as cover for the screen.

In total it was probably not much cheaper than A surface pro but I had very much fun building this prototype and I got 64gb of ram for AI models. I am happy about your feedback. I am open for any suggestions for the next Version.
