Jill Gomez 1942 - 2026

BBC Radio 3 announced about an hour ago that Jill Gomez has died, although I haven't yet found any press reports to that effect. She was the first soprano I saw live, and I fell in love with her singing and the piece she performed (Ravel's Shéhérazade).

She was also The Countess of Northesk through marriage.

May she soar as high as her wonderful voice.
