Any clear way out of Software Engineering?
Ive been engineering for about 8+ years, I have an associates degree and was just starting some software management before getting laid off recently. I'm realizing at my new job now that I just really really don't like what this profession is turning into. I don't see any way out though. I support a family and cant go back to school, I make $180k at this job right now, I would likely be able to stay afloat making ~$140k but I don't see any way I could shift careers and make that kind of money. I'd really rather be doing any other job at this point but I don't have the time to invest in new skills. Am I just screwed?
I enjoyed management when I was doing it but I wasnt doing it long enough to be able to secure a new job in management if that makes sense.
