Using one alipay account with two people

Hi everyone,

My partner and I are visiting Shanghai for 5 days in march, as a sort of long layover before our trip to Japan. I've been reading up on payment in China and have a question. My partner does not have a credit card because a while ago he had no income, and our bank requires a minimum income to be able to set up a credit card, so he just has a debit card. I do have a credit card, so I would set up an Alipay account with that credit card linked. I read that a single credit card cannot be linked to two accounts and even if you could, it wouldn't work since the name of the Alipay account holder needs to match the name of the credit card holder.

So now my question is, would we be able to manage in Shanghai with just the one Alipay account? For example, can we still tap into the metro with the qr code in my app for 2 people? Or can he tap in with the physical card and I tap in with Alipay? Or is this a huge risk and do we really need to get him a credit card?
