Daemon’s actions in the finales episode are dumb and an example of the showrunners writing themselves into a corner.
So obviously spoiler for anyone who didn’t watch the last episode. But it is so stupid for Daemon to not be outside the city walls on Caraxes during the battle. For one thing, him charging into a chaotic battle on horseback, and later on foot, risks his life. No matter how skilled he is with a sword it would just take one stray arrow or one trap to end his life. It makes no sense for team black’s most valuable dragon rider and the king consort to risk his life in any situation other than riding his dragon, where he is 1000% more valuable than he is on the ground with his sword. Imagine if in real life a fighter jet pilot runs into a battle with a pistol, and if another fight jet shows up then he will try to run back and get in his plane.
Daemon knows at this time that Daeron has a dragon, and Ulf is nowhere to be found, so he and Caraxes are all that’s stopping tessarion from torching their army.
But obviously, from a story perspective Daemon can’t be with Caraxes, otherwise Ulf’s betrayal doesn’t work. As soon as silver wing torches Team Black troops Daemon and Caraxes would have jumped into action and in all likelihood either one or both of the rider-dragon pairs is dead. This is just a frustrating example where the writers had to make a character act stupid to clear the way for the plot to move forward. In the books Daemon isn’t even at this battle, because him being there likely stops the dragonseed betrayal. The showrunners put him there because they want more screen time for him, but then need to concoct a reason why he is away from Caraxes the whole time
