I really need make this point so people realize what the potential the writers wasted:

\* the dance of the dragons should’ve been simple when it comes to motivations

This would’ve been the best source of tension. Characters with reasonable motivations even though some of them are very ugly.

Nuance is important, and 2 things can be true at once:
\- Rheanyera was the chosen heir, and she also felt robbed when the greens fucked her over.
\- westeros is sexist, and she’s also seems to be a bad ruler (regardless if the reason is that she wasn’t prepared, or the fact that Viserys’ death started a war)

Now think of the past seasons of Hotd, and how much of it was wasted on making sure R and Alicent were closer to being pure than not…

that was a waste. We could’ve had angry R. Unraveling R. Which is not the typical main character i guess, but it’s not atypical to the world of GoT. It’s actually what we’re used to.

Adding the prophecy just made the whole thing so cheesy— and more importantly— bad. It was like a shortcut to rationalizing her claim, when it was completely not needed.

I know this is controversial, but how they made Aegon in the first few seasons— it would’ve been better if they had R and other characters acting that way too.. it would make more sense.

R with peasants in dragon stone, forcing them to claim her dragons.. that’s not a heroic moment for her the way they framed her… its horrible for the bastards.

Storming KL, she should’ve been more angry not shocked and crying. She should’ve had the same energy that she had in the finale.

At the end of the day, this should’ve been a 2 season show max. Popular as he though may be, Viserys’ over-inclusion in S1 made the foundation of Hotd worse.

Overwriting Hotd made it bad
