I think people listen to lyrics way differently depending on the genre

I’ve noticed that people will criticize lyrics for being simplistic in one genre while completely accepting the same level of simplicity in another. A pop song can have really basic lyrics and still be called catchy, while a rapper or singer-songwriter might get criticized for the same thing.

I think delivery, production, and context matter just as much as the actual words.
