Looking for cage cleaning advice.
I change their bedding a few times a week, and I think i may be have found a way to keep their bedding less stinky while not making them feel the need to overcompensate by stinking it up even more.
I give them half their food in their bowl and clean while they're eating.
I remove all of the poops, and around half of the pee spots.
Ive been told they use their stink to mark their way around the cage, is that correct?
Then after cleaning up, i will sprinkle the rest of their food around the cage so they can forage around for fun and exercise.
I am planning to litter train them as soon as I'm able to get the supplies for it.
So here's what im trying to figure out.
What are ways to minimize the smell without making the rats feel like they have to stink up the cage even more? Also what can i add to the bedding to make it last longer/better absorb the smell?
