What is Kyle Dubas Cooking?

On Aug 6 2023 Kyle Dubas unloaded Mikael Granlund, Jan Rutta, Jeff Petry, and Casey DeSmith all off of the NHL roster in one (three-team) trade for Erik Karlsson.

Right now (Aug 13) he's sitting on 15 NHL forwards plus a handful of AHL guys who would be capable bottom-6 guys. He has 3 RHD in Karlsson, Letang, and Kaedan Korczak, with top RHD Harrison Brunicke blocked. LHD #1 appears to be Trevor van Riemsdyk (who is right handed), Sam Girad, and Declan Carlile.

They can't possibly go into the season like this, can they? What's Dubas cooking?
