Is anyone else getting WAY more lowball offers on Depop lately?

Selling Help

I have over 100 items listed on Depop, and it’s not that I can’t sell anything—it’s that it feels like everyone expects to pay the absolute lowest price possible for everything.

I’ll have $35 shorts that have only been worn twice and get a $2.50 offer. A dress that was originally $60, has NEVER been worn, and is already listed for $16 gets a $4 offer. And it’s not like I’m pricing these things ridiculously high. I’m already listing most of my stuff for way less than what I originally paid.

When I first started Depop, I could actually sell things for reasonable prices. I sold a never-worn dress for $30, brand-new sweatpants for $40, jeans for $25, etc. Now it feels like people expect everything to be $5 or less just because it’s secondhand.

And I’m a teenage girl, so this is something that genuinely frustrates me. A lot of us can’t afford to just donate clothes that we spent our hard-earned money on. We bought these things with money we worked for or saved, and with how expensive everything is these days, a lot of us are just trying to make a little extra money back. That’s literally why I sell my clothes instead of donating them.

I completely understand that secondhand clothes should be cheaper than retail, and I’m not expecting someone to pay the original price for something I’ve worn. But there’s a huge difference between getting something at a discount and expecting someone to practically give it away.

Like, if I have something listed for $16 and you offer me $4… what are we even doing 😭

Has anyone else noticed this lately, or am I just getting an unusually bad streak of lowballers?
