Seeking Camera Recommendations

Hello! I don’t post on Reddit very often, but I reviewed the rules of this subreddit and think it should be okay to post this here. If this should have gone elsewhere, please let me know.

I have found myself at my skill limit with the current camera that I use for wildlife photography, and I was hoping to get some recommendations for a camera upgrade. I currently use a Nikon Coolpix P1000, and it’s been fantastic, but I’m ready to try something new. I am still relatively new to cameras in general, so it’s intimidating to me to review all the specs when trying to make a decision. My hope is that, by making this post, some people who understand camera specs a little better than me can make some recommendations.

I don’t have many particular requirements aside from, well, it must be good for wildlife photography, especially for birds. An interchangeable lens is a necessity, as my current camera does not have that feature, and I’ve found that to be restrictive since I sometimes want to shoot macro. Budget-wise, I’m hoping for something below or around $3k (not including lenses!), but I am not necessarily opposed to recommendations that are more expensive than this since I am really wanting to invest in this camera for a long time.

And on the note of interchangeable lenses, I would love to hear some lens recommendations too, if possible. Buying the lenses themselves is a long way off for me as I can only afford a camera itself at the moment, but I’d love to get some reccs for lenses for both macro and distance photography.

I hope this is enough information to go off. Thanks for reading and any help anyone can provide!
