What critically acclaimed movie do you think did NOT stick the landing?
I’ll start: Past Lives
The opening 45 minutes were captivating enough, however as soon as Arthur was introduced the movie lost me. By the end of this movie, I did not find Nora a ambiguous protagonist at all. Objectively, she was a pretty awful person. I think the fact that Hae-Sung, a childhood crush, invoked such a strong sense of yearning from Nora shows that she’s a pretty awful person all around. And, oh man, Arthur allowing Nora to cry about another man on his shoulder. Lord help me. The movie would’ve been better if Arthur showed some resistance / backbone. But nah, Celine Song wants to make him a cuck.
I will say, this movie is shot exceptionally well. The start was also very well made. The coloring throughout was splendid. But sorry, not drinking the cuck cool-aid.
2.5-3/5 for me.
