Blood drawn nightmare!

Physician Responded

M59 5”6
Good health overall.

All my life I have been a hard draw for blood. It is so frustrating.
I always go in very polite, low tone not to offend them but 2 out of 3 do get offended.
I tell them “Just so you know I m a hard draw, this vein in my left arm usually gives the best results”.
1 out of 3 phlebotomist will answer and acknowledges the issue and goes for that vein.
Even then the success is 50%.
2 out of 3, refuse to do this vein, don’t even answer me and on occasions have gotten “I know what I m doing!”, and when the blood does not come out they feel stupid.

I drink plenty of water, no caffeine and I just read to bring a heat pad with me and use it right before, so I will do that.
Also to request the butterfly needle.

Do pros here think if I go to an actual lab I would get more experienced phlebotomists?
Can you go there or call and ask when the best one will be there and get her/His name?

It is hard when folks look at you like you are a nut when you announce the issue for over 50 years, do their own thing and they find out what you were talking about when nothing comes out while I fume inside.

I got poked 3 times yesterday at my family practice, that lady was clearly a rookie, I noticed how she wasn’t sure of any steps.
I told her to stop at 3 pokes and left completely frustrated and annoyed , no blood drawn.

One time I got poked 6 times until they switched phlebotomist and she got it right away.
