AIO Open at work about owning a pet monkey

Throwaway because anyone at my employer will likely know.

We have a pet related social slack channel where pet people share pics and stories about pets....the usual dogs, cats and the occasional horse/bird/fish/guinea pig, etc.

Someone recently posted their new pet monkey. My immediate reaction was ew, no fing way! I've never worked with this person and now I don't know how I would react if our paths cross professionally. To me this is on the level of knowing someone is into dog or "male chicken" fighting or hunting rare animals for sport.

I won't go to HR, because who wants that mess and they live in 1 of the 4 states where there is no statewide ban. I don't even want to put my name on a negative reaction emoji. But, holy fucking hell. How can you be so out of touch to not understand that it's something so controversial that it is likely to be professionally damaging?
