Frequent biting/hitting/pushing incidents at daycare?
Long story short, I’m wondering what is normal or expected for frequency/prevalence of biting/pushing/hitting in 2 year old classrooms at daycares, and what others’ experiences have been like.
My daughter is almost 2, in the Twos 1 class (23-30 months). Recently I’ve gotten a lot of incident calls (once every couple days) from my toddler’s daycare where she has been bitten/gotten hurt being pushed or hit. She has also has been telling me “x friend pushed me” (and sometimes that she pushed them back) every day when she gets home from school. She has also started showing these behaviors more with us, even though she has always been a (very chaotic but) very caring and loving kid.
I know this is a thing they go through at this age, and we love our daycare, but at this point I’m wondering if this is normal? Is this not normal and happening because of some lack of intervention or teaching about how this is not okay? Is this something that the teachers should somehow be preventing more?
Would love any thoughts and experiences. Thank you!
