Yesterday, on August 12, 2026, a solar eclipse from Saros cycle 126 was visible across large parts of Europe. It was total over Spain, Iceland, and Greenland, while in Central Europe it could be observed as a partial solar eclipse.

It was the first total solar eclipse on the European mainland since August 11, 1999. In southern Austria, it was visible as a partial eclipse, with a maximum coverage of approximately 89%.

Unfortunately, it was cloudy, so I wasn't able to capture the footage I had hoped for. Nevertheless, that certain "solar eclipse atmosphere" could still be felt and seen.

I still managed to get a few nice photos, and now I'll simply wait until September 3, 2081, when the next total solar eclipse will be visible over Austria, and hope that it won't be cloudy!
