I Moved to the USA at 18, Became a Nurse, and Raised Two Kids — AMA
Hey everyone! I’m a 37-year-old Indian woman living and working in the USA. I moved to the US at 18 as an international student, completed my education here, and eventually became a registered nurse. I’ve been working as a nurse for over 12 years, and although the job can be exhausting, I genuinely love what I do.
I got married at 22 to a Pakistani man, and we have a son together. We divorced when I was 28. Later, I was with a Spanish man for seven years, and we have a daughter together. We’re no longer together, but we’re still good friends and co-parent our daughter. I’m currently dating a 25-year-old Caribbean man, so yes, there’s an age gap.
Life after my divorce has also included relationships, hookups, and experiences that taught me a lot about myself and what I want from life.
I don’t have a good relationship with my parents anymore, which has been difficult, but I’ve worked hard to build a stable and happy life for myself and my children.
I’ve experienced life as an immigrant, international student, nurse, mother, divorcee, and someone who has built a life across different cultures. Ask me anything about life in the USA, nursing, immigration, motherhood, co-parenting, divorce, dating, cultural differences, age-gap relationships, or anything else. I’ll answer honestly. AMA!
