Ubuntu setup for gaming

I’m going to switch to Ubuntu or even Debian. Its sub was not helpful, I was getting told just to install Steam. I don’t think that suits me because I’d like to make the most out of my system:

R5 5600x, RX7600, 64 RAM.

Basically I want to nicely setup my pc for gaming and I’d be glad if you, guys, can help me out and help decide what to do.

1. Gamemode. Is it installed? Do I need it to install manually? What I loose if I don’t do it? Also, CachyOS doesn’t have gamemode installed but uses some alternative so I have a feeling either is important for gaming, right?

2. MangoHud and Goverlay. Is it just installed and go? On CachyOS it was all configured, you just need to open it once.

3. Your suggestions. Do you basically need anything else to make good gaming setup while on Ubuntu (or Debian stable too)?
