Books that capture modern American/Midwestern dialogue

Hi everyone! I want to ask for your book recommendations. English is not my first language, but I am not a stranger to it either. I have even written papers and academic dissertations in different subjects for over 15 years now. But that is the thing, my use of the language is very "academic" and I notice after moving to the US that my conversation is not as easy flowing, despite it being fluent. I am looking maybe to read some books or stories that help me get a better grasp of a more "conversational" English.

Can anyone recommend fiction, memoirs, or short stories that capture casual, modern American/Midwestern dialogue well?
