Is it all in my head, that generic Concerta (methylphenidate) is not working as well??
I changed jobs so I was forced to get on a shittier insurance plan.
I was on name brand Concerta for about a month before this job change. I remember feeling so excited because my severe anxiety about talking in work meetings was gone, I wasn’t worried anymore about opening my mouth and saying something unrelated or stupid. And it just felt easier to get stuff done.
Now I’ve been on generic methylphenidate and I’m having a handful of physical anxiety symptoms during work meetings, I am just so worried about messing up and saying something stupid so I stay quiet most of the time. It doesn’t feel as easy to get stuff done.
BUT here’s where I’m confused. I have bad alexythimia, dissociation, and PTSD. I’m not the best at finding patterns and keeping track of how medicine changes affect me. Is it all in my head?
I talked to my doctor and she said insurance will not approve a change from generic back to name brand “because it seems like the generic is working fine” even though I told her I don’t think so and have doubts. I also asked if I could change from methylphenidate to another kind of stimulant, just to check if the issue is with just the generic vs name brand OR if Ritalin or Vyvanse or something else might work better. Again my doctor said “no because it seems your current med is working fine.”
I don’t know if it’s all in my head or what I should do, maybe I should keep better track of my symptoms but I just feel so mentally overwhelmed, like my house and my personal life and chores are an absolute med and have been getting left behind 😭
