Almost lost my Neo 2 twice!
The Neo 2 is my first drone, currently in Newfoundland. I tried to do a quickshot follow on a cliff edge, as soon as it took off the wind took it out a few feet and it was enough to not be able to lock focus on me (wind was 40km/hr at least). I was watching it as it drifted out over the cliffs, not pointed in my direction. I thought to myself, there she goes! It had started to descend the 30 meters to the beach below (which was inaccessible). I thought it was gone. I tried one last thing, grabbed my phone and tried connecting.... After 10 seconds, it connected, and I could see it was trying to land, I cancelled the landing and it was hovering 3 meters above the ground, I couldn't see it. After trying to figure out how to get it into manual mode, finally I was able to take control and ascend back to where I was 25 meters above.
Something similar happened, again on a cliff, but it had taken off into a heavy wooded area.
I think I know what the issue is. When the wind is heavy, have your back against the wind, so that when it takes off, the wind pushes it away from you, that way it will still be able to see and track you.
Anyway. It's a cheap drone and as long as I don't lose footage, I'm OK taking the risks.
The quickshots are so convenient!
