Ok, hear me out. Long post
I am writing my 13th book. It is a search and rescue book. I was running through my dream casting today. There is a character named Julie. Perfect role for Maggie. Then I thought about the main character's dad. He would only appear in flashbacks because he died 30 years before the story. Boom, Tim is perfect.
Then I went further. Part of the book involves training recruits.
Enter James and Dule. An unamed pair of students. The teacher mentions by the end of class typically only 3 people stay.
James leans over, "We are 2 of those."
Dule, "How do you figure."
"I spend a lot of time in the woods."
"You went glamping."
"There were trees."
"You had WIFI."
"It was spotty."
Then a week later their seats are empty.
Movie ends and there is a mid credit scene.
James and Dule eating a huge breakfast.
James. "Man, we could have made it."
Dule. "I left because you left."
"Did not, you said you were leaving."
"I said I was going to the bathroom."
James reaches across and grabs bacon from Dule's hand. Dule slaps his hand. Credits resume.
