First of all, I apologise if something is not well expressed since I don’t speak English and I’m using Reddit’s integrated translator

I really think the whole “1.5 retconned the entire 1.0 story” thing needs to stop, because that is not what Infold actually said.

Yes, they changed the intro. Yes, the original 1.0 introduction was removed from the game for new players, and I completely understand why people were pissed about that. The new intro was confusing as hell if you had no context.

But that is NOT the same thing as saying that everything from 1.0 was erased from canon.

Infold literally addressed this in their official 1.5 statement. They said that the absence of Threads of Reunion “was never intended as a removal from Infinity Nikki’s narrative” and that the story elements were planned for future updates. They specifically said that technical issues in 1.5 prevented them from properly integrating the Sea of Stars introduction and the narrative setup for Threads of Reunion.

And the actual 1.5 story makes a lot more sense if you look at it as a previous/alternate iteration of Nikki’s story.

Nikki comes to Miraland. She meets Ena, receives the Heart of Infinity, goes through the events we experienced in 1.0, tries to save Miraland, and eventually that version of the story ends with Miraland being destroyed. Then we meet the Seer, who shows Nikki that this is only one possible outcome of her story and gives her another chance.

That is why the Sea of Stars exists in the first place. It deals with different worlds, possibilities and versions of Nikki. Infold even described 1.5 before release as a story where Nikki would encounter “countless versions of herself from parallel worlds.”

So no, I don’t think the correct interpretation is “1.0 never happened and Infold threw the story away.”

The better interpretation is that 1.0 belongs to a previous iteration/timeline of Nikki’s journey, while 1.5 reveals that this isn’t the only possible version of the story.

I think Infold handled the presentation terribly. They took something that was clearly supposed to be a later revelation and put it into the new player introduction without properly explaining the context of the original story. That’s a legitimate criticism.

But saying “they deleted the 1.0 story from canon” as if this has been confirmed is just misinformation. Infold explicitly said the opposite.

You can hate the way they handled 1.5. I certainly think they could have done it MUCH better. But “badly explained/restructured” and “completely retconned out of existence” are two very different things.

Some thoughts about the retcon
