AITA for being upset about a light being turned on in the morning?
I have never done one of these before, but I want to know if my feelings are valid.
I (16F) have a sister (14F) who is starting freshman year of high school today.
Yesterday night, she asked if I was okay with the light being turned on in the morning. I said yes, assuming that she’d turn it on at a reasonable time and then turn it back off when she didn’t need it
This morning at 5:30, I woke up to the light being turned on and an alarm.
*Note: I always wear headphones for my alarms to avoid waking my sister up when she was still in middle school. I also avoided turning the light on until she was a) awake and b) after 6:00 when she either asks me to or if I ask if I can, so that she actually stays awake to get ready. Whenever I need clothes or something from our room (we share a room if that wasn’t already obvious), I would use my flashlight to avoid waking her up.
I am a very light sleeper, so I woke up immediately assuming that, again, she’d turn it off after she was done getting whatever she needed
She didn’t turn the light off, she actually didn’t even need the room at all.
*Note: I assumed she needed the light on to get her clothes, hair and makeup, and her backpack ready. She actually only needed the light on to get her clothes, but she left it on regardless.
I was frustrated because after all the things I did for her to avoid waking her up, she didn’t even have the respect to do for me.
Yes I told her that she was able to turn the light on (she nodded her head as she spoke the question, so I just said yes to suit what she wanted), but again, I thought she would have done it at a reasonable time and would have turned it off right after.
Our bus arrives at 7:00.
Am I the asshole in the situation for getting upset, but never actually lashing out, at my sister for turning the light on?
