Hi, I'm Arnaud, CEO of MonsterMine.

For the past three years, our team has been building a mobile creature-collecting, management and strategy game where players can collect MonsterMine, evolve them, equip them and use them across different game modes.

Our goal has always been simple: if we removed the word "blockchain" from the pitch, the game should still make people want to play it.

That idea also shaped the way $GEM, our in-game cryptocurrency, is created. $GEM cannot be generated through arbitrary emissions. It can only be mined in the game through the hashrate of MonsterMine and a Proof of Play system we developed.

A MonsterMine's stats, equipment and progression, along with the way a player builds and manages their mine, all influence its mining capacity. Player activity is therefore directly connected to how the economy works.

Mining is not the only way players create value. MonsterMine will also include professions and specializations. Some players may focus on breeding, while others develop their MonsterMine for mine management, trading or combat. We want an economy where different types of players need each other.

The blockchain is not the game. It is the infrastructure that lets players genuinely own their MonsterMine, equipment and the things they create or earn in the world.

Our team includes people who have worked in the video game industry, and we care deeply about having as much of the final creative work as possible made by real artists.

We also want to be transparent. Because of budget constraints, we have used some temporary assets and placeholders during development. We are replacing them step by step whenever the budget allows. We recently found some incredibly talented artists in Brazil who are now creating MonsterMine visuals and 3D animations for us.

The attached image shows the kind of universe we want to build, but the project is still evolving.

We are not trying to build another speculative system dressed up as a game. We want to build a real game where blockchain provides something useful without replacing the fun.

Honest feedback, including criticism, is welcome. What would genuinely make you want to play MonsterMine and keep coming back?

[DEV] MonsterMine is a game first. Its economy only works when players play.
