KhII and 358/2 days

Im currently finishing up KHre:CoM and now im split on what to play next. I loved the organization related stuff and bought a physical copy of 358/2.

But i red often that i should play KH II before 358/2 days if i want the story to hit more.

Would playing 358/2 first really take away to much?

And is the Melonmix version overall a better experience to play then the original DS game? I heard people saying that the d-pad of the ds lite can be awfull for 358/2.

I have a 3DS aswell but that one is in my other Appartment atm which i wont get to for atleast a month, would the stick work for the game?
