How similar is College Culture to High School?

Hi, I’m an incoming freshman and high school was horrible for me in terms of the way people acted and treated each other. I’m talking about people being fake, ostracizing others, that kind of thing. Everyone says people in college aren’t like that, people aren’t as judgmental, they’re more mature and I just want to know if that’s really true. If sophomores and upperclassmen could share their experiences, that would make me feel a lot better knowing what I’m going into, thank you!!!
