Cohabitation/ Family Lawyer
Hi all,
My partner and I are in the process of closing on our first home together. We are looking to split the downpayment 50/50 but will be splitting bills/mortgage payments a little differently after the fact (60/40 | 55/45). We are not married. I do plan to marry but we discussed getting a cohabitation agreement or some type of trust agreement to protect our individual assets/contributions.
Just wondering if anyone recently had one drafted. How much a cohabitation agreement would cost and how much it would cost our individual lawyers to review?
Is there any recommendations for family lawyers?
I've also heard that Ontario lawyers are more expensive compared to getting a lawyer in a different province? Would there be any difficulty or issue with one of us getting a lawyer that isn't in Ontario? Are we even allowed to do that?
Thank you!
