Wanna be a doctor but don’t want med school
I know I sound like a lazy loser. But I have a very sensitive mental health when it comes to my sleep and time to regulate. I’m diagnosed audhd, but it’s mild and more like “Asperger’s” (even though that term isn’t used anymore).
Being a family doctor that wakes up at a good time, works traditional hours, and then goes home and gets enough time to enjoy my life before bed sounds like the dream. I love medical science, feel my best when I’m learning something new, and really want the puzzle of diagnostics and treatment to be my life.
The actual learning portion of med school sounds so exciting. However, the idea of 80 hour weeks, sleepless nights, 12-24 hour shifts, etc will break me and I will quit. I just know it.
What paths exist for someone with my passions but a sensitive nervous system?
