Mirtazapin, how it can affect weight?

Hello everyone, I was prescribed mirtazapin today. Everyone says that the most common side effect is weight gain, which is opposite of what I want.

Does anyone have any experiences with it? Was it just effecting appetite? Or did I make you gain/ stopped your weight loss even without changing the eating habits?
